August 20, 2012
(Denver, CO) – 19-year-old singer-songwriter Zach Heckendorf has just announced a series of support tour dates with Mat Kearney, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Michael Franti across the U.S. this spring, including an opening slot on Franti’s June 8th show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. He will perform songs from his latest full-length release, The Cool Down, produced by Brett Dennen and currently available on iTunes.
AmericanSongwriter.com exclusively premiered the official music video for Zach Heckendorf’s “All The Right Places,” which was shot at various locations around Denver and Colorado, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Mile High Stadium, Caribou Ranch Recording Studio, Union Station, among others. Zach Heckendorf covers Dr. Dre’s “Forgot About Dre” in the middle of Denver’s unusually vacant Mile High Stadium.
With The Cool Down, Zach Heckendorf has come out of the gate with a solid debut that flaunts his distinctive voice, jaw-dropping guitar talent, and knack for crafting sophisticated melodies and rhythms. Heckendorf delivers a rich, acoustic-driven sound, one that takes its cues not only from his love of hip-hop, but also from one of his main influences, soul pioneer Ray Charles.
Heckendorf began writing songs for his latest album as a freshman in high school and making a name for himself locally around Denver as a live performer. He has shared stages with John Butler Trio, Brandi Carlile, Guster, Barenaked Ladies, and Jakob Dylan.
