TIM MCGRAW NOTCHES 50TH COUNTRY AIRPLAY TOP 10
September 25, 2013
September 25, 2013 – It’s a golden week for country superstar Tim McGraw, whose “Southern Girl” jumps 12-9 to become his 50th top 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. (All charts will be refreshed, as always, on Thursday on Billboard.com.)
Since McGraw’s first top week in the Nielsen BDS-based chart’s top 10 almost 20 years ago (March 26, 1994), he’s taken the most songs into the upper tier, besting runner-up George Strait (47), Kenny Chesney (45), Toby Keith (39) and Alan Jackson (38).
With more than half of his top 10s (26) climbing all the way to No. 1, McGraw is ted with Jackson and Strait for the most leaders in the chart’s entire 23-year archives.
(Befitting his country cornerstone status, McGraw even boasts an extra showing in the title field: his then-eventual duet-mate Taylor Swift’s debut hit “Tim McGraw” reached No. 6 in 2007.)
Here’s a look at McGraw’s exceptional run to-date on Country Airplay, with the peak position and years for each of his 50 top 10 hits.
