Chris Thile will join Sufjan Stevens along with St. Vincent, Moses Sumney, Casey Foubert, and James McAlister to perform Stevens’ “Mystery of Love” at the Academy Awards tonight. One of Stevens’ three contributions to the soundtrack of Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name (Sony Pictures Classics), “Mystery of Love” is nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song. Chris Thile is a Grammy-winning mandolinist, singer, songwriter and composer. Thile has performed as a member of Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers and is currently host of the Minnesota Public Radio show Live From Here. Further nominees for Best Original Song are “Mighty River” from Mudbound, “Remember Me” from Coco, “Stand Up for Something” from Marshall and “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman. Call Me By Your Name, based on the André Aciman novel of the same name, is one of the most highly praised movies of the year. It is also nominated for Oscars for Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay, with an additional nomination for Timothée Chalamet for Actor in a Leading Role for his work in the film. The 90th Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be held on Sunday, March 4, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and will be televised live on ABC at 6:30 p.m. ET/3: 30 p.m. PT. |
