Jordan Rakei has received his first Ivor Novello nomination.
Rakei’s nomination – in the category of Best Album, for his 2024 long-player The Loop – caps off a remarkable year for the multi-talented singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, and one which saw Jordan achieve his first Top 40 album, be named Abbey Road’s first ever Artist In Residence, play a coveted slot on Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, sell out his biggest-ever shows globally, curate his very own BBC Prom, and finish the year of 2024 with 2 stellar sold-out nights at London’sRoyal Albert Hall.
Recognised as a pinnacle of creative musical achievement since they were first presented in 1956, winning an Ivor Novello holds a special place in music as they are judged by acclaimed songwriters and composers from The Ivors Academy, with winners joining a roll call of greats that includes Adele, Stormzy, Lana Del Rey, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Skepta, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
The Ivor Novello Award for Best Album celebrates consistent and inventive creativity and recognises the album as a complete and cohesive work. Rakei’s fellow nominees are Charli xcx’s BRAT, BERWYN’s WHO AM I. Ghetts’ On Purpose, With Purpose, and Lola Young’s This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway.
