MY MORNING JACKET ANNOUNCE “BRING THE POWER BACK HOME” 7″

September 22, 2020

My Morning Jacket has announced today the release of a brand new 7”, “Bring The Power Back Home” b/w “Bring The Power Back Home (Acoustic),” now available for preorder via the band’s official webstore. The 7”, limited to 2,020 copies, coincides with today’s National Voter Registration Day, and is available at a special “Pay What You Can” price ranging from $10.00 to $25.00; all proceeds from this release will benefit Fair Fight, the voter participation advocacy group founded by Stacey Abrams.

“’Bring The Power Back Home’ is about taking control of your own destiny,” says My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, “reclaiming one’s personal power in an effort to bring positive change back to our lives, even if it seems that the good in the world is slipping out of our grasp. Positive change and progress is still possible.  One of the best ways we can reclaim and use our power for good right now is to VOTE like our lives depend on it, because they do.”

“Bring The Power Back Home” follows the recent release of My Morning Jacket’s acclaimed new album, The Waterfall II. Released this summer to all DSPs and streaming services, the album is also available now via ATO Records on both CD and 140-gram clear vinyl in a gatefold jacket.

The Waterfall II has been met by worldwide critical acclaim, and the song “Feel You” has given the band its first #1 Record on the Billboard AAA Chart. “If its predecessor was about conflict and healing – it’s My Morning Jacket’s thorniest album, emotionally speaking – then this follow-up is more about what comes after that healing,” hailed Pitchfork, while Consequence of Sound said, “Despite its sequel-style title, The Waterfall II stands as an equal to its well-loved predecessor, one that moves from the sunny banks at the top of the falls to the deep and bracing waters down below.” Uncut called the album “sweetly sprawling” noting that it that includes epic Crazy Horse jams, beautiful low-key ballads, a spot of soft jazz, country, and a soul number…tied together by Jim James’ consistently terrific vocals and the ever-present threat of sustained reverb.”

In other MMJ news, the band’s 2011 Bonnaroo set will be a featured segment this coming weekend during the legendary festival’s Virtual ROO-ALITY livestream, September 24 – 28. Catch their performance on Saturday at 11pm Central Time.
